ELLESMERE Port Tennis Club have received a grand boost from a construction firm.

Bam Construction visited the club’s West Cheshire College HQ to deliver a cheque for £1,000, as part of a fundraising drive to pay for new children’s uniforms.

The cash injection has been welcomed by club treasurer Andrea McGinley.

She said: “We are hoping to get the children hoodies with the club’s logo imprinted so they can wear them in competitions.

“We will also have the Bam logo on as they have been great supporters. About eight of them came to the club and played a friendly match with adults and kids.”

Rising star Laura Holmes won both her matches for Cheshire in a tri-county under 9s tournament, which saw two other Ellesmere Port Tennis Club members taking part.

Pam Owen and Rhona Cook were also selected for the tournament, which pitted Cheshire against Lancashire and North Wales. Pam won one of her two matches but unfortunately Rhona injured her ankle before being able to compete.

The club’s summer camp runs from August 8-11, 9am-3pm. For further details, or to book, call Andrea on 0151 339 1027 or see www.ellesmereporttennis.com.
