SIX swimmers from the City of Chester Swimming Club hit form at a gala in Coventry.

Between them, the super six recorded 17 top-three finishes, two national qualifying times and 28 personal bests.

Isabel Thwaite, 12, claimed five gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and 100m and 200m freestyle, as well as a silver in the 50m freestyle.

Two of Isabel’s swims were national qualifying times.

In the 13-year-old girls’ event, Lauren Goodfellow struck gold in the 50m backstroke and also achieved a PB time in 50m freestyle.

Not to be outdone, Isabel’s sister, 10-year-old Phoebe, won the 50m backstroke in her age class and finished a credible fourth in the 100m backstroke in a PB time.

Swimming for the boys was 13-year-old Simon Ellershaw, who won a gold medal in 50m butterfly, silvers in the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley and bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Harry Fleetwood, 12, gained gold medals in the 50m freestyle and butterfly. He also took bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Competing in the 11-year-old category was Caleb St Hill, who achieved a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and a bronze in the 200m breaststroke.

Coach Don Bailey was impressed with the swimmers’ achievements.
