CHESTER Swimming Club welcomed two well-known faces to the City Baths on Saturday.

GB international swimmer Michael Rock and Chester MP Stephen Mosley were in attendance as the club celebrated achieving the Swim21 quality mark.

Swim21 status is awarded by the Amateur Swimming Association to clubs that provide safe, effective and quality services.

Rock’s visit was part of an event organised by private sector swimming business Total Swimming. He ran a ‘superstar day’, teaching the Chester club’s young athletes the most important lessons the he learnt on his way to the top.

At lunchtime, Mr Mosley arrived to present club members with their Swim21 award.

The day also helped raise more than £700 towards funding a training trip to Spain in February. Further funds will be raised at a 12-hour sponsored swim on February 5.

Chief coach Lee Holland was delighted with the efforts of the swimmers and volunteers at the club and was extremely grateful for the support shown from Mr Mosley and Total Swimming.
