Sports events to see in Chester on the weekend of December 11/12

At a loose end this weekend and fancy taking in a bit of live sport?

There is always plenty happening in Chester's sporting scene every weekend and we've compiled our weekly guide as to where you can catch a piece of the action.

Here's three sporting events this weekend.

1) Liverpool under-21s v Celtic under-21s (Saturday, December 12, 1pm, Lookers Vauxhall Stadium, Chester)

Stars of the future will be show this weekend when Liverpool U21s take on Scottish giants Celtic at Chester FC's Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

The Premier League U21 International Cup game kicks-off at 1pm and brings together two of the most famous clubs in Europe, both chasing their first win in this season's competition.

Cameron Brannagan, Jerome Sinclair and Jordan Rossiter, who have made first-team appearances, are expected to be involved and with a host of academy products featuring for Jürgen Klopp’s side in recent months, the game should give fans a glimpse into the future.

Admission costs £5 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 for U16s.

2) Chester RUFC v Macclesfield RUFC, National League Two North, Saturday, December 12, 2.15pm, Hare Lane, Littleton

Chester lifted themselves to ninth in the league following a win at Sale last weekend and John Aby's men will be looking to register back-to-back successes when they host table-topping Macclesfield on Saturday.

The Hare Lane men face a stern test from a Macclesfield side who have won their last four games and sit at the summit of the league and look a good bet for promotion to the next tier.

3) Cheshire Phoenix v Bristol Flyers, British Basketbal League, Sunday, December 13, 5.30pm, Cheshire Oaks Arena at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Ellesmere Port

The Phoenix return to league action against the Flyers on Sunday, looking to return to winning ways to keep their play-off bid on track.

The Nix, sixth in the BBL, boast two of the league's top players in their ranks in the free-scoring Jordan Williams and defensive colossus Kinu Rochford and registered a win over the Bristolians when the two sides met last met on November 15 in the BBL Cup.
