Fancy taking in some live sport this weekend?

There is always plenty going on in and around the Chester area, so every Friday we be bring you this handy guide to when and where you can see sporting events in the city.

Here are three events you can catch this weekend.

1) Dee Autumn Head; River Dee; Saturday, October 31 (10am start)

Grosvenor Rowing Club host this annual gathering of crews from across the country. Crews race from the A55 ‘motorway’ bridge to Dee Lane, a distance of just under 4,000m, and you can view the action from various points along the way. All you need to know about the event is HERE.

2) Helsby RUFC v Ellesmere Port RUFC; Cheshire Plate, semi-final; Helsby Community Sports Club; Saturday, October 31 (1.30pm)

With Chester RUFC without a fixture this weekend, this derby duel takes centre stage on the local scene and there's a place in the Cheshire Plate final for the winner. Once this one is over, you'll have time to settle down in front of a TV to watch the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham.

3) Chester FC Youth v Warrington Town Youth; North West Youth Alliance; Cheshire County Sports Club; Sunday, November 1 (2pm)

The young Blues warm up for next Wednesday's FA Youth Cup tie at Oldham Athletic with a league clash against Warrington. Chester are fifth in the Premier Division table, five points ahead of the Yellows.

Options on the road...

If you're looking to travel further afield this weekend, you can follow Chester FC at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday (3pm) or cheer on the Cheshire Phoenix at Sheffield Sharks on Friday evening (7.30pm).

It's a big weekend too for rugby league side Chester Gladiators, who face Manchester Rangers in the North West Men's League Grand Final at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes on Saturday (10am).
