A SNOWBOARDER from Backford is on the road to recovery after sustaining a season-ending injury.

Owen Godbold, 14, broke his collar bone in two places earlier this year in an accident suffered while training with professional boarders in California.

The Bishops’ High School student, who was offered a place on the Junior GB snowboard team in February before being injured, spent three months out of action.

He will not be able to return to freestyle competition until September.

Owen’s recovery has been assisted by the Core Fitness Centre in Ellesmere Port, where the teenager was offered the use of a personal trainer.

Owen’s mum Janine said: “Owen is such a young age and we were advised that the recovery is a delicate process and needed professional guidance, so thank God they came forward.

“I can’t express how much this has helped towards his training.”

Owen trains at the Chill Factore in Manchester three times a week.
