CONSERVATIVE A made the short journey to Liberal Club in the Chester League and came back with maximum points.

They triumphed 6-0 to keep the pressure on Riley’s Division leaders Christleton B.

Neal Jones got the ball rolling. He knocked in a 96 break to overcome L Hughes and set his side on their way to a big win.

Table-topping Christleton B ran out 5-1 winners at home to Chester Bus. Andy Mumford beat Gordon Dugdale before Chris Hesketh accounted for the Busmen’s Chris Read. Neil Cardus lost out to Mike Griffiths, but then Tony Cooke saw off Shane Futcher and Wayne Amey made it 4-1 to Christleton by beating Colin Morris. Finn Gallagher wrapped it up in style, hitting a 60 break as he gave little chance to Damien Futcher.

Riley’s drew 3-3 with Christleton A. They went into a 2-0 lead through Lee Stephens and Chris Earl, but Christleton roared back to lead 3-2 as Mark Cook beat Alan Cheers, Dave Done saw off Pat Cooney and Barry Charker accounted for Anthony Garland. It was left to captain Ray Cheers to salvage a draw for Riley’s with an emphatic victory over John Mooney.

Ellesmere Port Cons won 4-2 at Upton RBL A, going into a 2-0 lead through Steve Steadman and Brian Reynolds. They lost their advantage when Glen Morley and John Over senior brought the scores level. Alan Platt put Cons ahead again and Roy Baker gave the visitors a 4-2 win.

United Services were 4-2 winners over third-placed St Saviour’s B.

In the Olympic Trophies Division, leaders Broughton Wings came away from Blacon A with a 4-2 win to retain top spot. Conservative C had a great 5-1 win at home to Waverton, whose only winner was Chris Connolly. CCO beat Upton RBL C by the same score, while St Saviour’s A defeated Blacon SC B 4-2.
