BILLIARDS: Simms Cross B are champions of Widnes & District Billiards League after their 5-2 victory over Moor-field.

Captain Ken Kilshaw (100-55) and K Johnson (100-82) were the stars.

Widnes Cricket Club are runners-up, despite going down 4-3 at home to Farnworth B for whom Tony Hill won 100-75.

Corporation and Simms Cross A finished in third spot after being on different ends of 4-3 scorelines and these two sides will now play off on a date to be arranged.

Corpy's victory over Widnes Conservative Club B was engineered by Ian Woods (100-27), John Mercer (100-31), Mark Bingham (100-34) and Ste Rawlinson (100-42).

Simms Cross A were beaten by Widnes Bowling Club whose efforts were orchestrated by Willie Barnwell.

His 100-30 frame included a 62 break. Widnes Rec's 5-2 defeat of Farnworth A featured a 100-16 win from Mick Anderson.

Bernie Edwards (47 break) and Richie Whittle (100-24) were the inspiration behind USC A's 6-1 thrashing of their own B team.
