CHRIS Stones is ready to bounce back, despite a crash at Silverstone.

The Winterley racer was among 150 who took part in the Walter Hayes Trophy meeting, which is open to Formula Ford 1600cc competitors. But his event was cut short when his Van Diemen RF85 was involved in an accident and ended up with another car on top of him!

Chris, 43, a BT engineer, explained: 'I had not raced at Silverstone. I was going just for the experience.

'The practice ruin went fine, but in the race I was knocked off the track by a driver who tapped my left rear wheel and caused me to spin.

'He then ended up by backing into me and on to the front of my car. We were both out on the spot but unhurt. Even so, I thought it was great fun and I'll be back next year.'

Chris came fourth in the 2006 European Classic Ford series.

* Crewe sidecar team Craig Chaplow and Steve King are set for a busy winter.

With a new LCR-F1 machine, they will spend the next few months preparing for next year's British F2 Sidecar Championships.

Driver Craig said: 'We'll have had a few ups and downs learning to get to grips with it. We hope to test in Spain in mid-December, and would be grateful for support.'
