SIAN Kelman powered her way into the county spotlight at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium.

The West Cheshire AC sprinter celebrated success representing Cheshire in the Mason Trophy, an inter-counties schools track and field championships.

Sian won the intermediate girls A 100m race with an English schools qualifying time of 12.6 seconds and now hopes to be included in the Cheshire squad for the National Schools Championships to be held next month.

Sian also played her part in helping Cheshire's intermediate girls sprint relay squad of Daisy Flynn Piercy, Emily Done, and Beth Hicken posting a winning time of 49.3 seconds.

Daisy secured second position in the B 100m race with a time of 13.0 seconds and Bryony Potter finished second in the 200m with 26.4.

Emily Done clocked 41.8 seconds for fifth spot in the A300m, and Shona Valentine posted 43.0 seconds for second place in the B 300m.

Jelle Verwer rounded the intermediate boys 800m for second place in an English schools qualifying time of one minute 57.5 seconds and Aamir Walwyn finished second in 23.6 in the intermediate boys B 200m race.

Tom Booth negotiated the junior boys 80m hurdles in 12.6 seconds for third position and Emily Fisher grabbed third spot in the intermediate girls javelin with a throw of 27.78m.

Kate Titlow finished second in the intermediate girls B 3,000m in 11:37.9.

Rachel Treloar secured second position with a time of 12.9 seconds in the junior girls 100m and Emily Clarke finished second in the junior girls long jump with 4.65m.

Abbie Noble rounded the junior girls B 800m for fourth spot in 2:34.2, Sam Galley finished fifth in the junior girls 200m with 26.6 and Nienke Verwer sliced six seconds off her previous 1,500m best to clock 5:00.5 for fifth position.

Aidan Stoakley finished sixth in his junior boys 400m with 58.5 and joined Nick Crawshaw to help the sprint relay team finish third in 45.3.

Rachel Treloar and Sam Galley were part of the Cheshire junior girls relay team who finished fourth in 51.7 seconds and Ruth Pritchard finished sixth in the intermediate girls long jump with 4.35m.

* Lauren Hunt secured a silver medal at the Northern Senior and Under 20 Championships held at Wavertree, Liverpool, with a throw of 34.43m in the under 20 discus event. Dave McKay launched the javelin a distance of 63.82m to finish with a bronze medal in the senior men's competition.

Nicola Gore finished fourth in the senior women's discus final with a throw of 38.97m.

Chester-based Charlotte Roach, representing Vale Royal, won the U20 women's 1,500m final with a time of 4:34.84 and Saughall's Lucy Evans, representing Sale Harriers Manchester, finished third in the senior women's 200m final with a time of 25.07 seconds.
