HIGH school pupils of the present and future came together for a sporting spectacular.

It is the second successive year The Bankfield has staged a Fun Day Festival for feeder primaries.

Year 10 GCSE PE students acted as hosts of various group activities featuring hockey, football, handball, relay races, javelin throwing, speed stacking, basketball, rounders, tennis and a memory relay game.

Sports coaches Ste Wood, Joe Smith and John Farrell lent a helping hand through Halton Sports Development.

The 130 or so visiting pupils were from Years 3 and 4 at Ditton CE, Hale-bank, Oakfield and All Saints.

Simone Hands, school sports co-ordinator at The Bankfield, hailed the festivities a great success.

She said: 'The aim was to have fun while keeping fit and healthy.

'The young pupils enjoyed all activities and the older CGSE students shone in their roles as leaders.

'Ten young pupils were awarded medals by the group leaders for whole-hearted effort and application throughout the day.'
