A TRIO from West Cheshire AC celebrated success at the Tattenhall Tough Team Race.

Dave Alexander, Rob Tudor and Steve Skates clocked 57 minutes 50 seconds after covering the nine miles multi-terrain course last Friday.

The event was started by Olympic torchbearer and charity fundraiser Alex Staniforth, 16, of Kelsall, and it featured 46 teams of three.

Wrexham AC duo’s Daniel Weston and Darren Rowlands joined West Cheshire’s Laura Bestow to secure second place in 63:37.

The first all-women’s team, comprising Jayne Jay, Jane Ashbrook and Lisa Grantham, finished in 69:40 with Tattenhall Runners, Joanna Marsden, Sara Atkinson and Emma Baker next in 71:54.

Tattenhall were also represented in the race by Martin Hilton, Kate Lightfoot and Kath Stott (25th in 79:44) and Laura Ashford, Sharon Eaton and Rob Webster (37th in 87:54).

Eight members of Tattenhall Runners took part in the Hotfoot Up Famau fell race, the first of the Clwydian Hills Summer Trots series.

First home for the club was Peter Taylor with an excellent run for seventh place. He was followed by Alistair McNay (12th), Andy Sudlow (30th), Mark Smith (41st), Kath Stott (65th), Kate Lightfoot (80th), Dave Oldfield (81st) and Rob Webster (84th).

Nick Holmes represented the club in the Moel y Gamelin fell race, completing the 9.5 miles and 2,400 feet of ascent in 92:16 to take 21st place.
