BRIAN Beattie has maintained a proud record in the capital.

The West Cheshire AC distance-running ace completed his 23rd London Marathon on Sunday in a time of three hours, 54 minutes and 59 seconds.

Beattie finished 35th in the over 65s age group category and continued his fabulous feat of clocking every single London Marathon appearance under the four hours mark.

He was joined at the popular event by clubmate James Docherty, who was 961st overall and 572nd in the 18-39 age group category in 2.57:31.

Debra McQuair reached the finish on The Mall in a time of 5.40:53 for 1,802nd place in the 40-44 age group. That made her the 10,487th lady finisher.

Husband and wife, Darryl and Jane Pickering, completed the Ellesmere Port’s club contingent in London.

Jane finished 279th in the 45-49 age group category and was the 2,301st lady home in 3.59:36, while Darryl passed the post in 4.17:29 for 1,700th place in the 45-49 age group category and 15,295th overall.
