TWELVE Chester Gladiators are celebrating after being selected to join the Warrington Wolves service area scheme.

Talent scouts from the newly-crowned Super League Leaders Shield winners were impressed by the young Gladiators at a trial day attended by dozens of players from across Warrington and Cheshire.

Nathan Ainsworth, Jay Bridle, Will Hardy, Geraint Lawrence and Ryan Turner have been selected in the under 14s squad, where they will team-up with clubmate Tom Woods.

Lewis Tucker, meanwhile, is now joined in the U16s ranks by fellow Gladiators Rob Dessington, Tom Grieves, Max Himbury, Rob Leighton and Matt Simpson.

Players on the scheme take part in regular training sessions with Wolves coaches with a view to becoming part of the club’s academy set-up.

Allen Jones, who will assist with the running of the scheme along with fellow Gladiators junior coaches Adam Turner and Paul Roberts, said: “All of the boys deserve a huge ‘well done’ on their selection.”

Gladiators chairman Jim Green added: “Hopefully this is the start of some fine rugby league careers.”
