FOUR junior Chester Gladiators players have been attending a course run by top Super League club Warrington Wolves.

Ryan Turner, Tom Woods, Lewis Tucker and Jake Carter were selected after impressing coaches at regional trials last year.

They would have been joined on the Warrington Service Area coaching scheme by two of their clubmates had it not been for the duo’s rugby union commitments.

Gladiators coaches Allen Jones and Paul Roberts also caught the eye during the trials and they were asked to assist Wolves staff with the delivery of the sessions.

Jones said: “Being able to work with and learn from professional coaches has been fantastic.

“Paul and I have been coaching the under 13s age group and I have been very impressed with the technical ability that a lot of these juniors possess. Our own Gladiator juniors have been right up there in terms of their technique and understanding of what Warrington Wolves are looking for.”

A number of players in the current Wolves first-team squad have progressed through the service area programme.

Jones said: “Ryan, Tom, Lewis and Jake have all acquitted themselves brilliantly and deserve huge praise for their efforts.”

The quartet will soon learn whether they have made it through to the next stage of the scheme.
