GROSVENOR Rowing Club had a fantastic day’s racing on the River Weaver.

All of the club’s squads returned with medals from Northwich Rowing Club’s annual Spring Head of the River Race.

The first division was for single scullers only, with the four Grosvenor entries bringing home three medals.

Winners were John McMahon for the Masters F, Tim Donovan for the Masters C and Phil Hill for the Masters D, with Hill also coming in as the second fastest sculler of the division.

The second division saw entries from all Grosvenor’s novice squads. The first win was for the Men’s Novice eight.

The Novice Women’s four had a tough round but it did not stop Roxy Woodward, Cheryl Tonkinson, Naomi Forrester, Hannah Roberts and Steve Walker (cox) winning medals.

Grosvenor’s Novice Women’s Masters A four also bagged medals.

The third and final division, Grosvenor’s Novice Women won gold. The Senior Women entered an IM3+ double, winning their race in a course record time.

With eight wins, it was one of Grosvenor’s most successful events of the winter Head season and puts the club in a promising position for the summer regatta season.
