GROSVENOR Rowing Club enjoyed success on both days at the Bewdley Regatta.

More than 80 clubs from across the county descended on the River Severn and the Chester club more than held their own as they won four pots over a memorable weekend.

Three of Grosvenor’s victories came over the 800m course on the Saturday, including a maiden triumph for the men’s novice 4+ of John Pearson, Alex Remand, Gary Graham, Liam Davoren and cox Gemma Welsh.

The crew eased through all three of their rounds before beating Stourport Boat Club in the final.

This was followed by wins for the women’s IM3 2x crew of Janet Vorberg and Lindsay Scott and the masters D 4x comprising Jerry Poupard, Mike Allwood, Brian Chapman and Colin Morris.

The Sunday races were competed over the shorter 600m course and there was an all-Grosvenor semi-final in the women’s IM3 2x.

Sarah Turner and Abi Sedgwick got the better of clubmates Roxi Parkinson and Scott before defeating Abingdon Rowing Club in the final by two lengths.

The other notable Grosvenor performance of the day came from the women’s IM3 8+ who got to the final but were beaten by Stourport after being forced to make a late crew change due to injury.
