FISHING: DAVE Randles Jnr defeated the opposition to win last Sunday's Willaston AC match on the Lingmere Fishery, writes Brian Roberts.

A catch of a bit of everything gave him a winning 39-8-0, beating Jamie Hughes with similar for 35-6-0 and Robbie Woods with more of the same to make 27-10-0.

The day went to Gary Silvester when Caldy AS fished on rock pool at the Hampton Springs Fishery.

A catch of carp and crucians weighing 25-10-0 put him up front of Paul Robinson with carp weighing 23-6-0, putting John Ingram as third with 16-8-0 of small fish.

Ted Matthews of Neston struck lucky last week when fishing on the Lake Hill Fishery on the Llandegla Moors. That day his catch included a 7-8-0 rainbow trout, taken to a ledgered worm.

First place went to Harry Gittins in last Saturday's Rivacre AC match on the River Dee at Farndon. Ending with dace and gudgeon to weigh 1-11-0 proved enough to beat Dougie Walsh, having the same for 1-5-0 to beat Billy Gore.

Henry Miller scored a first in the Wirral Borough Council AC match on the Offa's Dyke Fishery. His catch of roach and crucians came to 5-8-0, beating John Walsh and Don Parkinson who shared second with roach catches for 4-14-0.

Geoff Selby ended as leader in the Wednesday night match of Lobol AC, fished on their Priory pool.

With skimmers and ide, his 9-14-0 catch gave him the edge over Damian Wilcocks with a 5-8-0 common carp topped up with bits for 8-2-0, putting Steve Dean in third with 6-15-0 of skimmers.

Winner of the club's Saturday match was Frank Hughes when they fished on the Milton Green Fishery. His net of carp and barbel clocked up 19-1-0 to beat Danny Boothroyd, helped to second by a 10-4-0 common carp in his 18-1-0 and edging Maurice Hall into third place with 15-13-0 of carp and barbel.

Helsby Sports and Social Club AC fished a pairs match last Sunday on the BICC factory pools.

Their top duo was Terry Archer and Malcolm Lightfoot, both having bream-based catches weighing 27-11-0.

Runners-up were Geoff McGuire and Bob Bowman with catches of bream and roach to weigh 12-13-0, followed in third place by Chris Hargadon who amassed 12-4-8.

Simon Green of Ellesmere Port had a day to remember last week on the Harthill Fishery. His catch that day was eight carp between 4-0-0 and 12-0-0, all taken to floating bread crust.

Lucas Streets of Ellesmere Port found it worthwhile last week to visit the local Four Oaks Fishery. His catch that day was 30-0-0 of carp to 6-8-0 all taken to sweetcorn.

Bill Jones of Ellesmere Port again made a worthwhile trip to fish on the Meadow Fishery. That brought him rainbows of 5-12-0 and 4-2-0 which he took to a black buzzer.
