Evie McHugh and Reece Munro secured a double celebration for Eccleston Primary School at the final round of the ESSAR West Cheshire AC Schools Cross Country Race Series.

McHugh won the year three girls race in a time of three minutes 40 seconds at Stanney, just five seconds ahead of second placed Isabella Rimmer (Overleigh St Marys), while Tamsin Watson (Saughall All Saints) finished third in 3:54.

Munro claimed success in the year three boys race with 3:13, ahead of runner-up Matthew Jones (Mill View) who clocked 3:30, and third-placed Matthew Hart (Waverton) who posted 3:31.

Tarvin’s Charlie McMullan won the year four boys race in 3:06, ahead of second-placed Elliott Bujac (Willaston) who posted 3:13, and Fergus Garland (Childer Thornton) in 3:15.

Tarporley’s Carys Roberts claimed victory in the year four girls race in 3:19, just one second ahead of runner-up Jessica Hennessey (Newton) and Martha Willetts (Tarvin) was third in 3:22.

Childer Thornton’s Imogen Pughe clocked a winning time of 5:50 in the year five girls race, four seconds clear of second-placed Holly Weedall (Cuddington), while Lara Battersby (Childer Thornton) was third in 5:59.

Sam Hollins (Upton Heath) grabbed glory with 5:28 in the year five boys race, ahead of runner-up Thomas Doherty (The Firs) in 5:31, and third-placed Ted Bolton (Christleton) who posted 5:41.

Sutton Green’s Lucia Pyne won the year six girls race in 5:55, ahead of second placed Lottie Wood (Kingsley) in 6:07, while Abigail Cartwright (Childer Thornton) was third in 6:16.

Isaac Tait, of Saighton, won the year six boys race in 5:15, ahead of runner-up James Lanni (The Firs) who posted 5:17, and William Wright (Upton Heath) in third spot with 5:22.

Tamsin O’Keefe (Christleton) secured success in the year seven girls race in 9:11, clear of Tarporley-based sisters Charlotte and Nina Walker who finished second and third respectively in 9:46 and 10:11.

Charlie Potts (Helsby) won the year seven boys race in 8:37, ahead of Neston’s Liam Farrell who was second in 8:46, and third-placed Matthew Douglas (Upton) in 8:56.

Freya Morris (Bishop Heber) clocked 14:26 for victory in the year eight girls race, ahead of Christleton duo Lauren Moore and Natasha Lawrence who were second and third respectively with times of 14:30 and 15:41. Christleton’s Luke Carlile and John Gornall were first and second respectively in the year eight boys race with times of 11:49 and 11:51.
