ROWING: QUEEN'S Park High School RC picked up more silverware than any other club when they took part in the North West Junior Regatta, organised by hosts Runcorn RC.

Queen's Park competed alongside Runcorn, Warrington, Trafford and Northwich in a round-robin competition.

The Chester club finished by claiming the Victor Ludorum honour, awarded to the club winning the most medals.

The first result was a silver in the WJ13 singles for Amy Jones and bronze for Rose Butters, then a silver for Chris Thomas and Joe Rowlands in J13 doubles.

The WJ12 quad of Lucy Adam, Leah Morrow, Samantha Young and Caroline Wither, coxed by Emily Collin, put in an amazing show to gain a gold. In the boys J13 singles, the deciding race between Chris Thomas and Joe Rowlands was fiercely fought with Chris just edging into the lead to give him a gold, Joe a silver and Ozzie Ghobadi a bronze.

In the J15 singles, Warren Amner just lost the decider and carried away a silver.

The WJ13 double with Bridie Collin and Alice Walton fought hard against determined opposition and won through to collect a silver. In the WJ12 doubles, Leah Morrow and Nadia Bakir rowed to a gold in their

group with Lucy Adam and Caroline Wither taking the silver, while Samantha Young collected a silver in the WJ12 singles. In the final race of the day, the WJ13 quad of Bridie Collin, Alice Walton, Amy Jones and Rosie Butters coxed by Emily Collin took on a WJ14 from Runcorn RC and to great cheers won by a foot.

On the Ergo machines on shore Chris Thomas won a gold for both the 13 and 14 age group, Joe Rowlands a silver and Ozzie Ghobadi for the 13 age group.

Grosvenor rower Paul Turner reached the quarter-finals of the Double Sculls Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in a composite crew with Craig Morgan from Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club. They were beaten by the eventual winners, GB lightweights Mark Hunter and James Lindsay-Fynn.

Ex-Grosvenor rower Nick Lloyd stroked the winning Leander four to victory in the Britannia Challenge Cup for coxed fours.
