TWO West Cheshire AC youngsters have nailed down top 10 places in the North of England ranking lists.

Under 13 duo Leah Ferrie and Bradley Edwards both achieved appearances in the annual clubs listings after impressive performances during 2006.

Leah turned heads with a 200m time of 27.6 seconds at Macclesfield in June to attain the fourth fastest time for her age group in the North of England last year.

And Bradley achieved a 1,500m time of four minutes 52.7 seconds to achieve eighth position in his age group list after attaining the performance on the same day in June as Leah in a Young Athletes Track and Field League match.

Other West Cheshire AC members to achieve appearances in the North of England ranking lists include Craig France (U20 men's 110m hurdles), Carl van Schie (U20 men's decathlon), Siân Kelman (U17 women's 100m and long jump), Stephanie Owens (U17 women's shot, discus and hammer), Emily Fisher (U15 girls' javelin), Nick Rushton (U15 boys' 200m) and Michael Lyness (U15 boys' high jump, pole vault, discus, and pentathlon). Carl van Schie finished 13th overall at the National U20 Indoor Combined Events Championships and seventh in the North of England Championships held at Sheffield.

He compiled 4,189 points after sprinting 60m in 7.72 seconds, long-jumping 5.93m, shot-putting 10.68m, pole-vaulting 3.45m, running 9.36 seconds in the 60m hurdles, clearing 1.69m in the high jump and posting 2:49.09 in the 1,000m. n West Cheshire AC, in co-operation with Christleton High School, are organising a series of athletics-related talks at the Chester school on Wednesday, January 24 (6.45pm start).

Runners, locally-based athletes, coaches and athletics fans in general are being invited to the event, but must book their places in advance by ringing Dennis Wall as soon as possible on 0151 201 1254 (evenings only). There will be a charge of £1 payable on the door. n Fixtures this weekend include the North of England Indoor Track and Field Championships for under 20s, U17s, and U15s, at Sheffield, on Saturday and Sunday.

The North Wales Cross Country League fourth round takes place at Wrexham on Saturday (2.10pm start) and the Four Villages Half Marathon comes under starter's orders at Helsby on Sunday.
