JENNY Tinmouth’s first full season of competing in Britain’s premier motorcycle series is almost over – and she is determined to finish on a high note.

The 34-year-old from Ellesmere Port was in action at one of her favourite tracks – Silverstone – at the weekend for the penultimate meeting of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season.

Tinmouth, the first woman ever to race in the series, clocked her fastest ever lap round the Northamptonshire circuit free practice.

She finished both her races in 25th place, getting progressively faster as each lap went by and closing in on the bikes in front of her. Tyre troubles prevented her from going faster.

Crew chief Steve Bradley said: “There is no comparison between the Jenny Tinmouth that started this season and the Jenny Tinmouth that is now competing. She now looks comfortable on the bike every time she goes out on track.”

Tinmouth added: “I am looking forward to finishing the season in a positive manner as a way of thanking my fans and my sponsors for all their help and support.”

The 2012 series comes to an end at Brands Hatch over the weekend of October 12-14.
