JENNY Tinmouth climbed off the Tarmac to record an historic result at Snetterton on Sunday.

The Ellesmere Port rider, 34, crashed out of her first race in the MCE British Superbike Championship after just two laps. But she was unhurt and dusted herself down for race two, which saw her finish 15th and secure the first Superbike point of her career.

Tinmouth was the first female rider to compete in Britain’s premier motorcycling series and her achievement on Sunday makes her the first woman to claim a point in the championship.

The feat was even more impressive considering what had happened in Sunday’s first race.

Tinmouth came off her Two Wheel Racing Honda at the Montreal Hairpin, skidding on to the grass but not suffering any serious damage to herself or her bike.

Undeterred, she managed to complete race two and later said she was ‘super chuffed’ to have made Superbike history.

The series continues at Brands Hatch on the weekend of July 19-21.
