JENNY Tinmouth is up for the fight after she grabbed a top 20 finish in the second round of the British Supersport Cup at Thruxton, writes Ben Coulbeck.

The Ellesmere Port speedster finished 18th at the Hampshire circuit on Sunday after jostling with her male counterparts for the majority of the 18-lap race.

Tinmouth rates Thruxton as one the best tracks in the championship and was satisfied with the result.

She said: “It went really well. It was a great race and I had a good little battle with four or five riders.

“I just want to build on this now. It was the first time I have raced to the 600cc at that circuit so I am quite pleased with the result. I managed to pass two riders on the final corner so I was quite chuffed.

“Thruxton is one of my favourite tracks becuase it is by far the fastest. The average lap-time on the weekend was 100mph.”

Next up for the 31-year-old Whitby race ace is the May Bank Holiday weekend round at Mid Cheshire circuit Oulton Park. It represents a great chance for Tinmouth to build on her latest success while pleasing her fans and friends on home soil.

“Oulton Park is my favourite track,” she said. “It’s one of the best in the country because of the nature of the track. It’s up and down and goes through the countryside and it is dead technical.”

Tinmouth, sponsored by Cheshire-based insurance firm Sorry Mate, is currently placed fifth in the British Supersport Cup. Last year she finished seventh overall.
