A TALENTED teenager from Clutton has landed a national title.

Naomi Craig, 15, won the under 16s crown at the British ModernŠTriathlon Championships in Solihull.

The Abbey Gate College student came out on top after competing in the event’s three disciplines – swimming, shooting and running.

Naomi was competing with regional champions from across Britain and was up against athletes who were more than a year older than her.

She swam a personal best in the 200m, while her scores and times in the 1,500m run and shooting ensured she took the coveted title.

She now progresses to next year’s European Championships in Spain.

Gavin Allmand, deputy head at Abbey Gate College, said: “Despite a punishing training schedule, Naomi works incredibly hard to maintain the balance between her academic studies and her competitions. The college is incredibly proud of all her efforts.”
