ROWING: Northwich Rowing Club claimed 10 wins and posted the fastest times in all three divisions at its own Head of the River on the Weaver on Monday.

Single scullers Mike Rafferty, Tom Carter, Jamie Leighton and Matthew Jump were all winners in the first division and they climbed in the same boat to win the Senior lll quads.

The third division saw Northwich let their awesome eights loose with the Senior ll and Senior lll boats winning. The women's Senior lll four also romped to victory.

The Senior lll eight of Carter, Tom Green, Rafferty, Stuart Jones, John Cowen, Pete Wood, Geoff Simms, Ben Jones and cox Lizzie Bone destroyed Agecroft, posting the fastest time of the day, 7mins 46secs, to win them the Walter Benyon Trophy.

The Grange School, meanwhile, were not without success. They entered 16 crews and returned six winners over the 2,350m course.

They were J15s single Edward Fords, J14s sculler Lara Pointon, J18 double Jenny Johnson and Deepika Reddy; J14 four Cara Webb, Sarah Hewitt, Harriet Tindale, Lara Pointon, cox Will Hunt; J14 double Dominic Williams, Nick Hampson and J15 double John and Edward Ford.

Point and the Ford brothers are now preparing for the Inter Regional Regatta later this month as North West team members.
