ATHLETICS: WEST Cheshire AC members delivered bronze medal performances at two venues over the weekend.

The club's senior men clinched third spot at the Cheshire Road Relay Championships at Warrington, and 10-year-old Bradley Edwards won a place on the podium for finishing third in the Under 11 boys' race at the Uttoxeter Cross-Country Races, in Staffordshire.

WCAC were represented by five senior men at the North West Road Relay Championships, incorporating the Cheshire Championships, at Birchwood near Warrington.

Graham Earlam posted 19:46 followed by Gary Withers (19:54), Graham McNeil (18:34), Ken Begley (19:08) and Paul Frod-sham (20:01) as they secured 15th place.

Bradley Edwards secured a bronze medal at Uttoxeter in the U11 boys' cross-country race. He covered the demanding 1.75-miles course in 13:09.

Rebecca Grimes and Natasha Linford powered their way around the U15 girls' race in 11:49 and 14:17 respectively.

Georgina Wright completed the U13 girls' race in 12:22, Libby Ward the U11 girls' in 14:41 and Aidan Stoakley and Tom Rees the U13 boys' race in 13:23 and 14:29 respectively.

Brian Beattie finished fourth in the over-60 age category at Sunday's Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon after covering the 13.1-mile course in a time of 1:35.44 and was joined by Lisa Davies (1:48.29) and Mary Radford (2:10.33).

Gary Withers led the WCAC contingent at the New Brighton Multi-Terrain Race by securing fourth position. He was joined by Graham Earlam in 16th spot, Gary Bissell 25th, Clive Donovan 33rd, Brian Hastings 45th, Steve Williams 68th, Dave Hough 70th, Tony Kennedy 85th, Brian Beattie 94th, Mark Povey 108th, Mike Lamb 110th and Alison Talbot, who was 22nd lady.

WCAC will host the Sutton Six 10k Road Race on Sunday at Guilden Sutton, near Chester (11am).

The club is organising a family quiz night at Little Stanney Village Hall on Friday, October 8 (7.30pm).
