PHIL Littler's 19-dart game spearheaded Albion's 5-4 victory over local rivals Navvy which takes them into tonight's Town Championship semi-finals in Runcorn Apec Taxis Darts League.

The contest lived up to its billing as the tie of the round - Albion had been severely tested by Section Two champions Red Admiral in the first round on Thursday and Friday's quarter-final was no different.

Navvy's Paul Carr had an 18-dart game while team-mate Peter Murphy shot a maximum but their efforts weren't quite enough.

Section One champions, Halfway A, meanwhile proved too strong for RAOB Buffs - running out 8-1 winners while stable-mates Halfway Gents beat Halton Marauders 6-3.

The last four is completed by Roundhouse, who defeated Tranny Rovers.

Rovers had been the only team to defeat higher-division opposition in Thursday's Town Championship last 16 - the Section Six side knocking out Prospect Has Beens from Section Five 5-4.

Elsewhere, Halfway A's Wally Done had a maximum throw in his side's 7-2 defeat of Tranny Lads while Wanderers' Peter Illidge did likewise in the 6-3 defeat to Navvy.

Steve Finney's 19 darter and a 118 finish by Steve Hassey helped to steer Roundhouse on a 7-2 winning course against Union Tavern for whom Steve Bury went out on 108.

In the Executive Cup quarter-finals, Fran Reilly and Paul Burke hit 180s as Lion Doo Waps accounted for Kev's Killers 6-3.

Section Three's Outcasts and Dread-naughts progressed and they will be joined in this evening's semis by Draymen of Section Five.

Jimmy's Jugglers and Navvy Lads had needed last-16 rescue acts - both 3-1 down at one stage, they fought back to disappoint Likely Lads and Raven, respectively, 5-4.

Kev's Killers cut their comeback even finer. They had to take the last three games against Tricorn and did so with Ian Deakin (17 darts) and Stuart Bousfield (19 darts) at the hub of their recovery.

Outcasts had a 103 outshot from Chris Jones when overcoming Jolly Brewer 5-4.

A week tonight, (Thursday, September 7) the Apec Taxis KO Cup final between Red Admiral and Albion will share the billing with the Executive Cup final, at Runcorn War Memorial Club (8pm start).
