SUPREME'S Legacy provided jockey Andrew Thornton with the first leg of a treble at Bangor-on-Dee last Saturday.

The 9-2 shot recorded a one-length success in Charity Day Novices' Hurdle Race Division I that started the afternoon's action.

'He was always going well. He's still green and more of a chaser, what we get now is a bonus,' said the trainer's father George Reveley.

There were several horses in contention in the closing stages of the Brookes Bell Handicap Hurdle with Lazerito making his way home before Always Waining, sent off at 16-1, came with a run to gallop clear and win by four lengths from Desert Tommy.

Trainer Robert Stronge said: 'He worked terrific. He'll go on faster ground and there's a race for him at Uttoxeter in a couple of weeks.'

Give Me Love looked the sure winner of the Ken & Gill's 25th Anniversary Novices' Steeplechase but was unable to maintain the pace from the final bend.

My World, the 6-5 favourite, stayed on well for Thornton to notch up a four-length victory.

Thornton was back in the winner's enclosure on the third occasion with a smooth five-length success aboard 5-1 favourite Simon in the Brooke Hospital For Animals Handicap Steeplechase. The winner will not run again until next winter.

The 4-1 chance, An Capall Dubh ridden by Charlie Huxley, made light work of the Jane McAlpine Memorial Hunters' Steeplechase recording a winning margin of 16 lengths. The Lyme Volunteer took up the running in the second circuit from River Mere but the winner was always travelling well and survived a mistake at the last to score unchallenged.

'She's only a pony but she's very tough and a little star. She's fit and she was never going to be beat,' said Donald McCain, representing his father Ginger, following a win for 4-1 favourite Chickapeakray in the Maelor Handicap Hurdle.

Paddy Aspell sent the mare to the front a mile from home and hugged the inside rail to the line. The tactics paid off as the partnership contained the prolonged challenge from Longueville Manor by a neck.

Nobody Tells Me justified a starting price of 11-8 as favourite to shine through with a late run and pull clear of his field by four and a half lengths to win Division II of the Charity Day Novices' Hurdle Race.

A crowd of 4,569 attended the Charity Day meeting where the children's Hobby Horse Grand National raised more than £300 for The Brooke charity supporting horses, donkeys and mules tirelessly working for some of the poorest people in the world.

Racecourse manager Jeannie Chantler said: 'We anticipate raising around £1,000 when we include the exit collection and this amount will be matched by Betfair.'
