SWIMMING: HALTON Swimming Club's Katie Holmes completed a hat-trick of agegroup Cheshire County Championship titles.

She put in a great final 50m to take the 200m title to add to 50m and 100m wins at Macclesfield.

Fellow 14-year-old Lucy Myler continued her excellent championship with 100m freestyle victory in 61 seconds and the 100m individual medley in 1 min 11 secs - touching out Katie Holmes as Halton finished first and second.

Lucy also came third in the 200m medley.

Sarah-Louise Banner's fine sprint swimming brought a highly-deserved 100m freestyle silver medal in the 15-years age group.

She clocked 62 seconds before adding a bronze in 100m IM.

Katie Scutt, 11, enhanced her breaststroke successes with 200m bronze in a club-record time of 3:06.

In an excellent open-age 50m butterfly final, Stephanie Mahoney was just edged out into second place by the strong-finishing Abbie Tetley (Winsford) - despite a great start and good underwater work at the turn.

A determined William Warburton grabbed silvers for 100m backstroke - in a club record 1:05 - and 100m breaststroke with a PB 1:14.

John Navis, Craig Garner and Shaun Whitfield had fourth places in the 100m breaststroke and IM respectively, while Ellie Newby, Lindsay Jude and Andy Matthews reached finals.

Other excellent performances came from Mike Neil, Robin Bright, Amy Anderson, Chris Newby and Andy Matthews who finished the 1,500m free in a PB 18:24.

A report on the final weekend of individual events will appear next week. The relays are at Stockport in April.
