JOANNE Fish went to great lengths to win Runcorn Golf Club's Littler Bowl.

With conditions at Clifton Road particularly difficult following heavy rain, the course played 'long' for the decisive second round.

This favoured the big hitters like Joanne, who has shortened her handicap from eight to seven through victory.

The 36-hole competition is played off a maximum handicap of 30 - a rest day separating the two rounds.

Joanne followed up her nett 72 with a magnificent 69 for a total of 141.

Runner-up Cathy Bennison, playing off 14, was one shot adrift after nett scores of 68 and 74 for 142.

Cathy had already been in the frame as the third-prize winner in the Stableford Final Trophy.

Presentations for this event and the Cheshire Memento were incorporated into the awards ceremony for the Littler Bowl.

The Stableford Trophy produced a win for Maureen Burns whose 36-points score resulted in a handicap reduction from 12 to eleven.

Val Whitaker was runner-up with 35pts off an 18 handicap.
