Jenny Tinmouth continued her British Superbikes progress after posting her best-ever time at Brands Hatch.

Tinmouth, in her maiden Superbikes season with a factory team, Honda Racing, finished 19th and 22nd at round six of the championship at Kent’s famous circuit.

But despite finishing outside the points, the 36-year-old from Ellesmere Port managed to set a new personal best on board her CBR1000RR Fireblade.

Tinmouth said: “Race one was really good; I got a good start off the line and managed to hold my position for a few laps before the safety car was issued.

“Once the race resumed I held my position and then managed to get up to 19th where I finished.

“During the race I set a personal best lap time on the second lap and improved my qualifying time, so chuffed with that. It was a mega race and I had a long battle with Shaun Winfield and managed to nip him on the line, so pleased with that.

“Race two wasn’t so good, I didn’t get the start I wanted and lost some places, I also had a battle with Aaron Zanotti and once I past him I managed to bridge the gap to Shaun.

“I’m leaving Brands happy to finish both races, improve my race pace and also get my personal best.”

Tinmouth, whose previous forays into Superbikes came as a privateer, signed up with the Honda team at the beginning of the year and has taken time to adjust to her new machine.

Her team-mates, Dan Linfoot and Jason O’Halloran, endured a mixed weekend, with Linfoot finishing eighth in race one and crashing out in race two while O’Halloran finished ninth in race two having crashed out in race one.

Tinmouth and the Honda team have now set their sights on improving when round seven reaches Thruxton circuit in Hampshire at the end of the month.

Honda team manager Havier Beltran said: “It’s been a frustrating weekend for us really; its not we’ve come here underprepared, just things have caught us out.

“We just seemed to be on the back foot going into each session with all riders, we’ve not progressed how we should and could have done.

“For Jenny, again, she’s moving forward, but things just didn’t work out for us at Brands. We need to run through all the data from the weekend and move forward to the next round at Thruxton.”
