Jenny Tinmouth declared herself "over the moon" after completing her first two races with her new Honda Racing team.

Ellesmere Port racer Tinmouth posted 23rd and 30th placed finishes at the second round of the British Superbikes championship (BSB) at Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.

The 36-year-old brushed off the disappointment of her opening weekend at Donington Park a fortnight ago, where she crashed out of race one and technical issues forced her out of race two.

Tinmouth, who joined Honda prior to the new season, looked more comfortable and more assured on her Honda Fireblade and hopes to use her positive showing at Brands Hatch as a platform for further improvement at round three at Oulton Park on May 2-3.

“I’ve had a really good weekend at Brands Hatch and am chuffed to bits with two race finishes,” said Tinmouth, who raced as a privateer in last season’s BSB championship.

“I was pretty consistent in both races and am just over the moon with both results.

“I’ve learnt a lot all weekend about braking points and markers, and a few other things, so have been working on those over the weekend.

“I’m really happy with my progress and looking forward to the next round at Oulton Park.”

Tinmouth, who became the first female rider in BSB history back in 2011, was joined on the grid at Brands Hatch by Honda team mate Jason O'Halloran, who finished fifth and 10th in race one and two respectively, while the third Honda rider Dan Linfoot was forced to miss out after breaking his wrist during a free practice session at the Kent circuit.

Havier Beltran, Honda team manager, said: "We're really happy with both Jason and Jenny's progress this weekend.

"For Jason scoring two top-ten finishes was an excellent result and for Jenny finishing both races has really boosted her confidence. We have a few small things to work on and have a test next week at Oulton Park, so come the next round there we should be in good shape."

Frodsham's Howie Mainwaring-Smart was in impressive form too as he posted two seventh-placed finishes on board his Quattro Plant Kawasaki.
