RUNCORN motorcyclist Ian Mackman has described his first appearance in the Isle of Man TT races as 'the best thing I have ever done on a motorcycle'.

The 27-year-old service manager hit speeds of up to 180mph in both new comer and senior races on the island.

Now he is determined to return next year and plans to better his performance, which saw him finish in the top 50.

He said: 'Real life now seems like a let down! Picture the scene: you get up in the morning, prepare the bike, then they close your favourite piece of road and you ride around it as fast as you can. What more could there ever be to life! See you there next year!'

Full report next week.
