IAN Weir of Neston had a day to remember at Burton Mere Fishery.

He took a 25-5-0 catfish, common carp weighing 22-0-0 and 18-0-0 and a 17-8-0 mirror carp to squid, mussel and oyster boilies.

Bob Edwards was top rod in the Peg 1 AC match at Milton Green Fishery with 28-12-0 of carp and, by drawing the golden peg, he also took home £101.

Barry Davies came out top in Neston Match Anglers' meeting at Tarvin Sands Fishery. With 12-0-0 of bream, he had the edge over Billy Mason with 10-8-0 of bream and Dave Roberts with 7-12-0 of bream.

Steve Openshaw cruised past the winning post in the Thursday open match at Lingmere Fishery. His mixed 67-0-0 easily beat Jamie Swain's 42-4-0 carp haul and Bob Evans' 38-8-0.

The Saturday match went to Dave Randles Snr with carp and barbel weighing 73-0-0, with Jamie Swain again second with 67-3-0 of carp and Dave Wood-worth third with 62-2-0.

Mark Greasley continued his habit of ending up on top in the Cheshire Police team. The Ellesmere Port angler was competing in the North West Area Police finals at Copthorne Fishery in Garstang. Greasley took fourth overall with 28-12-0 of carp, supported by Alan Roberts in fifth with 26-8-0 and John Booth with 22-12-0.

John Woolley was the winner when Ellesmere Port British Legion AC fished the long island pool at Hampton Springs Fishery.

A carp and barbel mix gave him 45-1-0 and the lead over Andy Hickman with a carp-based 32-10-0 and Steve Andrews with 30-8-0 for third.

Jason Connah took double his nearest rival's catch in Rivacre AC's match.

He put 14-14-0 of bream on the scales, beating Dave Grimes' 7-6-0 and Billy Gore's 6-15-0.

Bad weather restricted Phoenix SAC to two outings in Plymouth on board the boat Size Matters.

Both trips remained close to shore with Gary Davies taking a 14-0-0 pollock to sand eel bait. Martin Evans claimed a 12-8-0 ling and Keith Deal an 8-0-0 pollock.

Digby Martland of Neston returned beaming form the Grove Fishery at Backford having caught mirror carp weighing 16-3-0, 11-0-0 and 9-0-0 all to a halibut pellet.

Castrol SAC went wreck fishing from the Morgan James at Caernarfon in St George's Channel. John Yould and George Cassidy shared victory, each taking an 8-0-0 pollock to shad bait.

Peter Cooke won the Lobol AC Wednesday evening match on their priory pool with 16-12-0, beating Geoff Selby with mixed 15-13-0 and Dave Wilcocks with 13-9-0.
