JENNY Tinmouth continues to go from strength to strength after she surpassed her best finish of the season in front of her home crowd at Oulton Park.

Tinmouth, from Whitby, produced a solid display to claim 13th place on the qualifying grid before a good start in the 125cc British GP Championship race gave her the impetus to go on and secure seventh overall.

The performance eclipses the 28-year-old's previous best, after she finished ninth in her outing at Knockhill, Fife.

'I'm really happy with how the race went and it was particularly pleasing to finish seventh in front of my home crowd,' said Tinmouth, who has now tallied 24 points for the season.

'My radiator was leaking just before I went out so I had to borrow one but apart from that it went well.'

Tinmouth's success continues to defy the odds in a male-dominated sport and, despite riding a non-factory Honda, she believes she has a realistic chance of securing a top-five placing in one of the four remaining races of the series.

She said: 'I rode a good race at Oulton Park and I'm getting closer and closer to that top five. Hopefully I will be able to do that in one of the remaining races and I'm looking for another improved performance at Croft in two weeks' time.'
