SECOND-PLACED Deeside Ramblers suffered an unexpected defeat at Brooklands on Saturday.

The Northern League Premier Division title chasers slipped to only their second defeat of the season – 4-3 – away to their opponents.

Going forward, the prolific Ghanzafar Ali was still on fire, scoring twice. A penalty flick was also awarded to Ramblers that Ibrar Latif scored comfortably.

Unfortunately, their marking was not sharp enough. Brooklands’ players were able to find their way to the goal and they snatched the win.

Ramblers’ 2nds finished all square at Rhyl after a fast-paced contest. Hedley Pollard, Andy Stammers and Del Millard-Smith all scored as the game ended 3-3.

The Ramblers’ 3rd team hit the ground running after the Christmas break, beating Blackpool 6-2 at home. Ed Lowe and Kieran Harris got two each and Guy Fernall and Phil Johnson one apiece. Ben Lloyd was outstanding between the Ramblers’ sticks.
