DEESIDE Ramblers’ performance of the week came from their ladies first team.

They won 2-0 at home to North Women’s League Division One high flyers Morpeth Ladies on Saturday, with goals from Alison Cheshire and Kate Coppack and an outstanding display from sweeper Amy Brickland.

The following afternoon the club’s men’s first team suffered a late 6-5 defeat at Brooklands to extend their winless start to the Conference North season to five matches.

Ibrar Latif (2), Ali Ghazanfar (2) and new boy Babar Abdullah netted but it was 15-year-old UK Lions starlet Tom Armitage who stood out for the Ramblers, who host fellow strugglers Preston on Saturday (noon).

Deeside’s Beavers did manage to manage to beat their Brooklands opponents at the weekend, 5-1 thanks to Freddie Cheshire (3) and James Temple (2).

Chester Ladies’ wait for a first win of the North Women’s League Premier Division campaign goes on after they went down 7-1 at table-topping Ben Rhydding Ladies on Saturday.

After a tough first half, Chester stepped up a gear after the break and scored the goal of the game when captain Donna Richards finished off a superb team move that started with a long pass out of defence from Mel Coulson.

Chester Ladies 3rds lost their Cheshire Women’s League Division Three clash at Timperley Ladies 3rds 4-0, but the final outcome would have been different had the visitors been able to take the many chances they created.

Pete Evans reduced the deficit as Chester’s men’s first team lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle University in North League Division One.

Chester 4ths returned to winning ways in North West League Division Six South as they came from behind to win 4-1 at home to Oxton 5ths.

Philip Nicol fired into the roof of the net from the top of the D to bring Chester level before Craig Hockenhull converted a short corner to put them in front. Grant McIntyre created goal number three before a fourth followed late on.

Chester 4ths are going well in Division Six South and they won 4-1 at Oxton 5ths courtesy of Jon Feeney (2) and Richard Nicholls strikes and a stunner from Andy Ible.

Greg Lawler (2) and Andy Howell did the damage as a strong midfield display earned Chester 6ths a 3-0 derby victory at home to Deeside Ramblers 7ths.

The win moved Chester up to third in Division 10 South but the 7ths remain rooted to the bottom after their 8-0 defeat at leaders Sale 3rds.
