BY CONTRAST to the warm and sunny conditions Halton & Frodsham Harriers had enjoyed last time out, the weather at Stretford's Longford Park Stadium was 'wet, wet, wet',

But Harriers turned in some good results in the weekend's National Young Athletes League match.

Emma Scott (sixth A, 23.9 secs) and Amy Wright (sixth B, 24.2) scored first for the U13s over 150m.

Scott ran well over 1,200m for third B place in 5m: 08.5, her long jump of 3.12m taking seventh A spot.

Emma Pyatt was A scorer over 1,200m in 4:38.4 for fourth place. She was sixth in the B shot with 4.07m.

Amy Wright's 1.28m high jump was a grade-three clearance, equalling the winning A height.

In the shot put, she had a 5.34m best for fourth A spot. Over 75m, Rebecca Gordon was eighth A runner in 13.2 and Olivia Dunsheath seventh in the B (13.4s).

Gordon was going well in the A 70m hurdles until falling but got up to finish seventh while Maisie Ford ran third in the B (16.8).

Medina Yassin came eighth in the A 800 with 3:37.4 while Dunsheath ran splendidly for third B (3:09.7). Yassin also produced a 2.46m long jump.

The two Emmas - Scott and Pyatt - plus Wright and Ford were fourth at 4x100m (65.9s).

Gallant Ashley Pye scored all the U13 boys points with great second places at 100m (14.9), and 200m (30.1).

A 3.48m long jump earned him the seventh A points.

Nathan Dawson, Liam Renton, Mark Coman, and David Tomalin formed the U15 boys line-up.

Dawson started with fifth over 100m (13.3) and set a grade-four 200m time of 26.9 for the same finishing position.

His third fifth place came with 6.74m in the shot.

Renton ran a well-judged 1,500m as runner-up in 4:48.3 but was overtaken in the last few metres.

His 3.93m long jump was good for fourth B points, Coman's 4.42m claiming the A points.

The latter ran a grade-four 800m for second place (2:22.5) before coming fifth at 400m (62.7).

Tomalin, recovering from injury, was unable to run but scored fourth place at discus with 14.12m.

Rachel Green and Rachel Wilson formed a dynamic duo for the U17 women. They began with two great results in the 300m sprints - Wilson storming to victory in 46.1 and Green taking fourth (49.8).

Green's well-judged 800m third place came in 2:54.7.

The pair had second places in the shot put, Wilson with 5.91m in the A competition and B-stringer Green managed 4.07m.
