Less than 12 months after taking up the sport with Chester Romans Ladies, Laura Dye has earned herself a call-up to the Great Britain Women’s squad.

Laura has been been included in the squad for next month’s International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women’s European Championships.

The tournament is being held in the Spanish province of Granada between August 1 and 9 with Great Britain drawn in Group B alongside Germany and Sweden.

Laura joined the Romans in October 2014 and lined up as a linebacker and occasional running-back in the five-a-side version of the game.

Recognising her size and strength, the Great Britain coaches switched Laura to the offensive line and she took to her new position like a natural.

The club are hoping to help fund Laura’s trip to Spain and are now selling t-shirts. Anyone interested in purchasing one can contact the team through the Facebook page ‘Chester Romans Ladies’ or via Twitter at @RomansLadies.
