St Bede's maintained their challenge with an impressive 8-1 victory over WCC A - John Hartshorn (84-35) and Johnny Holland (59-21) doing the late damage.

Strugglers Farnworth A are in contention with a 7-2 triumph away to St Joseph's A - Alan Johnson's 70-32 featuring a 35-break and John Chamberlain (72-25) also providing impetus.

Stadium B won the basement battle against St Basil's B - Matty Clark (84-25), Sean Dennett (74-25) and Richie Whittle (87-27) standing out.

Simms Cross A edged past St Basil's A by a solitary point with Mark Bingham (90-11) starring.

In Division Two, Leon Hosking's fantastic 54 break wasn't enough to save Widnes Cricket Club C from losing 7-2 to Farnworth C.

Ford B halted Eccleston Lane Ends A's revival with an impressive 8-1 win - Graham McCann (70-36) and veteran Ken Metcalf (49-31) dividing the teams.

Farnworth B crushed St Joseph's B by the same score with wins from Peter Johnson (63-35) and John Pinder (53-32).

Stadium A eased past Widnes Rec - Anthony Leather (63-27) and Tex Corby (77-23) winning the match.

HGSC B kickstarted their season with a 6-3 win over Pavilions - Lee Greenfield (68-37) and Mark Cuerden (70-6) winning.

In Division Three star performer Simon Howard helped Widnes Conservative C to a 9-0 victory which included a 86-20 frame and a quality 37 break.

Farnworth E had a great 7-2 home win against Oddies - Paul Williams (87-19) and Brian Cafferty (69-28) in fine form.

Widnes Conservative Club B also had a fine win, coming out 7-2 victors at Village C.

Star man for Village was Tom Sheehy whose 81-23 included a 26 break.

Shock of the week came when Mill Brow beat leaders USC B 7-2. Tony O'Neil (58-28) and Jim O'Neil Jnr (60-29) the stars.

Eccleston Lane Ends B had a 6-3 home win over Moorfield C.

RAOB B also triumphed by the same scoreline with a win for Aaron Shingler (58-26).

Prescot Reform continued their challenge with a 6-3 win over Farnworth D. D Nulty (78-49) and Colin McCarthy (55-25) on top form.

Birchfield won well at WCC B - Geoff Illidge (73-30) and Paul Smith (57-26) starred. nA massive Widnes & District Billiards League upset came when Widnes Conservative B embarrassed Farnworth A 7-0.

John Carter was the pick of the winners with his 100-65 score.

WCC had an impressive away win over USC A - Phil Gerrard (100-53) and Andy Knight (100-25) inflicting most damage. Runaway leaders Widnes Rec suffered a second successive defeat - this time at the hands of rejuvenated Moorfield who won 4½-2.5½ thanks to Paul Brad-burne (100-87) and Dave For-shaw (100-88).

Farnworth B edged out Widnes Conservative A 4-3. John Pinder continued his form with a 100-71 win which included a 31 break.

Ford kept up their challenge with a 4-3 win at WBC where the efforts of Geoff Brassington (100-53) and Tony Collins (100-58) were decisive.
