TABLE TENNIS: FORD A moved into second spot in the Halton Table Tennis League after Mal McEvoy and Rob Hughes served them treble tonics.

Both hit hat-tricks in victories over Sutton CC, Widnes Rec A and Runcorn Sports Club B and C.

However, Ford A were beaten by leaders Sutton Manor A who stayed on title track with other wins over Ford B and Widnes Rec A.

The tabletoppers could only draw, however, against neighbours Sutton CC.

Kevin Dolder, Tony Edge, Dean Appleton and John Appleton racked up trebles for Sutton Manor A, whose B team beat Runcorn SC C and Frodsham B with Rob Goldson, Peter Cunningham and Grahame Reid hitting hat-tricks.

Runcorn SC A's Jay Phillips was a three-time winner as they saw off Widnes Rec A while Sutton CC defeated Frodsham A with help from an Eddie Clein treble.

Not to be outdone, Clein's team-mates Frank James and Billy Wheeler were un-beaten in the defeat of Frod-sham B who found some consolation in a draw against Runcorn SC C.

In the revised Division Two, after a split of lower-table teams into Division Three, Pavilions A have assumed an early lead with win over Halton Seniors.

Tony Braddock's treble in Widnes Rec B's victory over Pavilions B steered the Liverpool Road team into second spot.

Halton Seniors had a treble from Pete Woolley in defeat of Eli Lilly while Andy Woodyatt remained un-beaten in Daresbury's draw against Runcorn SC D.

Farnworth are on top of the new Division Three - Ian Simm, Roy French and Ray Hughes having masterminded victories over Sutton Manor D and Halton Club C.

Norman Carter and Jeff Grundy completed maximum hauls in Widnes Rec C's success against Sutton Manor C.

Manor C recovered with a victory over their D team, Kate Bridge trebled up as Pilkington overcame Halton Club C to climb into third.

Ford A comfortably beat their B team despite giving away 80 points in the team handicap. Sutton Manor A defeated Pavilions B by seven points after giving the Weston Point side a 120-point start.

The league's divisional singles are this Sunday at Halton Stadium.
