ANDY Walker grabbed a winner in extra time to clinch a 3-2 victory for Ellesmere Port at Marine Reserves in the third round of the West Cheshire League’s Pyke Cup.

Port’s other goals in the nail-biting encounter came from Nathan Mapletoft and Andy Jones.

Marine’s scorers were Luke Tonan and Ben Barns.

A Tony Ashton strike propelled holders Castrol Social into the fourth round with a 1-0 win over Poulton Victoria.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Newton, for whom Jerome McIntyre and Frank Strode were on target. Leigh Hammill netted for Motors.

In West Cheshire League Division Two, Capenhurst Villa fell victim to a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Mossley Hill Athletic.

Athletic’s Barry Coventry, Simon Ellison (2), Ben Carson and Mark Hughes found the net for the home side while Tom McGill and Ryan Nicoll restored some pride for Villa.

Ellesmere Port Reserves failed to find the net in a disappointing Division Three clash, slumping to a 3-0 home loss to Mersey Royal.

A goal from Ross Parry and a Phil Owen brace gave the visiting side the win.
