CARL Macauley has moved to bolster his Vauxhall Motors defence.

Late last week the Motors boss completed the capture of Louis Horne from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League outfit Northwich Victoria.

The arrival of the 20-year-old comes at the perfect time for Macauley.

The experienced Lee Dames has been ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring problem while Tom Hannigan is suspended.

Horne was a product of hometown club Bradford City’s centre of excellence and was their youth team player of the year in 2009.

He made one Football League appearance for the Bantams before his release in the summer.

Horne, who spent loan spells at Barrow and Fleetwood Town while on Bradford’s books, had short stints at Hinckley United and Buxton before joining Vics in November.

Horne is expected to make his Motors debut in their home match against his former club Hinckley on Saturday (3pm).

All West Cheshire League matches involving teams from the Ellesmere Port area were frozen off last Saturday.

Weather permitting, Vauxhall Motors Reserves return to Division One action at home to Marshalls tonight (7.30pm).

Last weekend’s Ellesmere Port & District Sunday League programme was completed wiped out by the wintry weather.
