ELLESMERE Port secured their passage into the third round of the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup following a penalty shootout win over rivals Upton AA.

With the scores tied at 1-1 after extra time, the Port held their nerve to emerge 5-3 victors on penalties.

They are joined in the next round by Capenhurst Villa, who comfortably saw off Govan Athletic. Goals from Mark Ryan, Tony Ashton and Mike Urmston, added to an earlier own goal, handed the Villa a comfortable 4-0 victory.

They are joined in the third round by Willaston. Goals from Dayo Akinlabi and Paul Ellison secured their 2-1 victory away to Spurley Hey.

However, Vauxhall Motors Reserves slipped to a 4-3 home defeat to Cammell Laird Reserves and were eliminated from the competition.

In West Cheshire League action Capenhurst Villa saw their reserve side defeated 1-0 at home by bottom club Hale Reserves in Division Three.

Neston Nomads suffered a comprehensive 4-0 away defeat to AFC Bebington Reserves.

The result leaves the Nomads second from bottom in Division Three, just three points above Hale.
