NESTON Nomads were the big winners at the Ellesmere Port Junior League Cup finals day at the Whitby Sports & Social Club.

Neston claimed three cups as talented young players from the Ellesmere Port, Wirral, Chester and Runcorn areas did battle on Saturday.

Their under 12s team caused a shock when winning the U12s Roy Baker Cup with a penalty shoot-out success over Vauxhall Motors. The thrilling clash had finished 4-4 after extra-time.

The Neston club also won the U13s W&T Glazing Cup, with a 2-1 triumph over Upton, and the U15s Ray Traynor Cup, with a 2-0 victory over Barnston Panthers.

But there was heartbreak for Princes Villa as they lost the U16s Fred Harris Cup final to Beechwood Falcons 2-1.

The U11s McDonalds League Cup went the way of West Kirby Panthers Reds after they beat Heath Rangers 5-1 while Newton Athletic defeated Heath Rangers 2-0 to win the U14s Steve Hodnett Cup.

The Whitby Sports & Social Club is also the venue for the league’s Knockout Finals, which take place this Saturday.
