NATHAN Eccleston gave Ellesmere Port a flying start to the West Cheshire League season.

He bagged two goals to earn his side a 2-1 home win over Blacon YC in Division One last Friday.

Elswwhere, a strike by Josh Williams was not enough as Willaston lost 2-1 at Christleton.

In Saturday’s Division One action, Liam Gough and Josh Walsh netted for Vauxhall Motors Reserves in a 4-2 loss at Maghull.

In Division Two, Capenhurst Villa opened up with a home defeat. They lost 4-2 to Maghull reserves, Steve Morgan scoring both their goals.

Cape’s second string also began on a losing note. They went down 2-1 at home to South Liverpool in Division Three last Friday, Mark Ryan their scorer.

In Division Three on Saturday, Neston Nomads fell 4-2 at home to Belfry, Kevin Jackson and Patrick Ward getting their two goals.

Gareth Craven scored for Ellesmere Port Reserves but his side lost 3-1 at home to New Brighton Reserves.
