Hinckley United 2 Vauxhall Motors 2

A POINT did little for either side at the Greene King Stadium on Saturday as Motors were unable to extend their winning run.

They had to settle for a share of the spoils with relegation rivals Hinckley, having gone into the game on the back of a three-match winning streak.

The home side took the lead midway through the first half when Calum Flanagan’s long throw found debutant Omar Bogle, who cleverly spun and curled a low shot beyond Scott Tynan in the Vauxhall goal.

Tynan was the busiest on the two keepers in the first half, denying Bogle twice in quick succession.

Motors got their equaliser just before half-time when leading goalscorer Josh Wilson initially hit his 20 yard free-kick straight at the Hinckley wall.

However, the ball came back to Wilson and he made no mistake second time around, firing beyond the helpless Hinckley keeper Danny Haystead.

The goal lifted the Motormen and they found themselves 2-1 up on 53 minutes. Lee Dames whipped in a deep left-wing cross and Kevin Holsgrove hooked the ball over his marker before hitting home a clever left-footed strike from eight yards.

Hinckley bagged a deserved equaliser on 82 minutes when Motors failed to deal with another long throw by Flanagan. Tom Byrne lobbed the ball back into the area for Danny Bragoli to head home from close range.

Both sides had chances to snatch a winner in the closing stages but it ended all square.
