ELLESMERE Port were on the wrong end of a one-sided scoreline in the West Cheshire League.

They lost 4-0 at Hale in Division One on Saturday.

In Division Three, Damien McGinnigle netted for Capenhurst Villa Reserves but it was not enough to save his team from a 4-1 loss to Widnes Town.

Several weekend fixtures were lost to the wet weather, including Heswall Reserves v Capenhurst Villa and Ellesmere Port Reserves v Chester Nomads Reserves.

In the Cheshire Amateur Cup, local sides experienced mixed fortunes.

Vauxhall Motors Reserves progressed, winning 2-1 at home to Runcorn Town Reserves.

Tom Craig and Graeme Davidson got the goals.

But Willaston were knocked out of the competition. They lost 3-1 at home to Heswall, Peter Rutter getting their only goal.

Ellesmere Port Town Ladies made it nine wins from nine in Division One of the Cheshire Women’s League.

Their latest success was a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Wythenshawe Amateurs on Sunday.

After missing a string of changes, the Port then found themselves trailing just after the break. They soon got back on level terms midway through the second half through Toni Livens.

A couple of minutes later, captain Lydia Ward netted to make it 2-1.
