ELLESMERE Port were held to a 0-0 draw by lowly Blacon YC in the West Cheshire League on Saturday.

With leaders Ashville drawing with Cammell Laird Reserves, there was an opportunity for Port to cut the gap at the top of Division One to four points.

However, they could find no way past hosts Blacon so they still trail Ashville by six points.

Elsewhere in Division One, Vauxhall Motors went down 2-0 at Christleton and basement side Willaston were beaten 4-1 at Heswall, Mark Knox scoring their consolation.

Capenhurst Villa Reserves won their mid-table battle with Belfry in Division Three.

The hosts ran out 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Jack Shepherd, Tom Huckley and Jamie Johnson.

Ellesmere Port Reserves dew 2-2 at home to Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves, Glyn James and Lee Morris scoring their goals.

In round one of the Haworth and Gallagher Bowl, Capenhurst Villa marched through with a 4-0 success at West Kirby Reserves. Mark Ryan, Iain Forster, Lewis Walters and Robert McDowell.
